Volunteer Centre Buxton aims to provide volunteering opportunities in Derbyshire for people of all ages and backgrounds.

People can come for advice, have 1:1 interviews and receive help on a wide variety of voluntary work, tailored to the individual. We hold details of all types of local and national voluntary work.

We also offer a range of services to the local community in which volunteers participate and support organisations from the voluntary, community and public sectors.

Transport Scheme - volunteers take older people to their doctors, to hospital appointments, out shopping or on social trips. They can chose which journeys they want to do and may use their own car or our specially adapted vehicle suitable for wheelchair users.

Escorts - assist people who need help shopping, in conjunction with Community Transport.

Befriending - visiting people in their home who are isolated or live on their own with little contact.

ReadyCall - offers minor repair work, such as putting up shelves, fitting smoke detectors, or emulsioning walls. Volunteers will also tidy gardens, including mowing and general weeding.

Handy Van - ensures vulnerable people can remain in their homes and be safe and secure. Our Handy Van person can carry out a free fire safety and security check within homes.

Home Support Service - for people who need personal assistance in their own homes by trained care professionals.

Meeting Room Hire - our meeting room is available to hire Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.  Please contact us for availability and costs.

Computer Projector Hire - we have a new lightweight portable Hitachi XGA projector that can be hired for presentation purposes.  Hire cost on application.

Wheelchair Loan - we have numerous sized wheelchairs available at the centre that are free to loan.  A donation would be gratefully accepted.
