Services We Provide

Volunteering

If you want to volunteer in Buxton, or the Derbyshire Dales, our role is to provide advice and information about the wide range of voluntary work opportunities.

Voluntary and Community Services Peaks and Dales will undertake a basic assessment and arrange introductions to those organisations in need of volunteer help where the interests of a particular volunteer are best suited.

Volunteer Transport & Car Scheme

Covering over 530 square miles of some of the most rugged and remote areas of the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales, our volunteer drivers help to provide transport for older people (over 65), disabled people and people with learning difficulties which would prevent them from using public transport.

Voluntary and Community Services Peaks and Dales provide transport to take individuals and groups to medical appointments, meetings, social outings and to any mainland UK holiday destination.

Disabled Children's Service

The Disabled Children's Service provides support for children with additional needs aged 0-25 and their families in the High Peak area.

We also run an after-school club, support local youth clubs and arrange activities during the school holidays.

Home Support

The Home Support Service provides assistance with personal care and gives practical support to older and disabled people and people with learning difficulties in their own home from 25 years onwards.

Our service is registered with CSCI (Commission for Social Care Inspection).

Our service is funded by Social Services and the Primary Care Trust.

Home Maintenance Service

The Home Maintenance Service provides maintenance and gardening services in particular to disabled and older people though its services are open to everyone. It provides its own tools and equipment and no job is too small.

Rates are competitive and a good quality of service is provided by local trusted traders who've been police checked.

Handy Van Service

The Handy Van Service operates in the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales. The scheme provides free Home Fire & Security checks to ensure vulnerable people can remain in their homes while staying safe and secure.

As well as fitting safety equipment the scheme will carry out up to 2 hours of small practical tasks in the home such as putting up shelves and replacing light bulbs. The service will make 2 free visits a year.

Computer Support

Computer Support is a social enterprise created by Voluntary and Community Services Peaks and Dales, whose aim is to provide assistance with any and all types of technology to everybody in the local community.

Advice and training with technology are its main focus, as well as home repairs and installations. Give us a call so we can discuss how we can help you with technology.

Hearing Aid Battery Collection

Those with NHS hearing aids in the High Peak can call in at Voluntary and Community Services Peaks and Dales in Buxton, to collect their replacement batteries.

Volunteer Befriending

Our High Peak Befriending Service is aimed at lonely and socially isolated people who live in Buxton, Chapel and the surrounding areas.

Volunteers are recruited as befrienders who will then visit people at their homes, provide them with some company, help them with small amounts of shopping and other tasks.

Wheelchair Loans

Voluntary and Community Services Peaks and Dales has a number of wheelchairs available to loan out. This is a free service, though a deposit of 10 is requested when these are first collected.
